VEBA Annual General Meeting

Here is a brief of the Nov 9th Annual General Meeting. We did a review of the progress made in the past year, established some goals for next year and had the election of officers.

The 2005 executive is:
President:Ted Rowland of Valleyview Dollar Store
Vice Pres:Deryl Priebe of Edward Jones Investments
Secretary:Charlie Jackson of The Daily News
Treasurer:Steve Quiney of FunStuff Recreational

We also established some new positions:
Director: Alice of the Falcon Corner Store
Director: Steve Maltman of Coopers Foods

The key success of the past year has been our establishing a rapport and working with the other stakeholders in Kamloops' business sector. This includes the City of Kamloops, Chamber of Commerce, Venture Kamloops, Southwest BIA, Central BIA, and the North Shore BIA. Monthly meetings are held with our focus being on the marketing of Kamloops.

We have seen great growth in our area over the past year with a number of businesses moving in or moving around, new subdivisions, construction at the Truck Stop and the start of the Frontage Road Improvement.

The Valleyview & East Business Association is a nonprofit society run by dedicated volunteers. Our mission is to promote our area in order to attract new business as well as help existing businesses with any problems that they encounter in their growth, marketing and networking.

Membership in VEBA is voluntary but we encourage all businesses in our trading area to join. More information is available on our website at www.kamloopseast.com. Membership forms are available under "Downloads" on our website or for more information call Deryl at 377-3885.

Tool store plans relocation

Business Briefs The Daily News Mon Nov 22 2004

The Tool Place in Valleyview is moving into a bigger space in spring.

Manager Doug Dick said the store is crowded in its current location, so it's relocating to the former City Furniture building on Oriole Road, about a block from where it is now.

The Tool Place spans 743 square metres where it is now, and will almost double that to 1,394 square metres when it opens its doors on Oriole Road on April 1. Of that large, new area, two-thirds will be dedicated to showroom, the other third will be warehouse with lots of room for merchandise.
